Coastal Mountain Youth Academy (CMYA) is an educational and therapeutic program for “at promise” youth, located in Southern California. CMYA’s program consists of a sober day school that serves male and female adolescents between the ages of 15-18. These adolescents struggle with issues such as addiction, truancy, abuse, juvenile detention and probation.
Coastal Mountain Youth Academy’s counseling goals are to support students and their families in their journey towards creating lives that they prefer. This will be accomplished by creating a sense of teamwork; by standing together with each student and his/her family, against problems that they are facing. One component is individual counseling which helps students connect with their strengths, knowledge and expertise. Group counseling provides a community of support for students to better equip them to stand against the particular problems they face. Counseling also includes family therapy; bringing the family into the community of support, and enabling them to work together with their teen against their challenges while providing helpful parenting skills and support groups. The counseling program helps teens and their families overcome the obstacles together.
CMYA’s programs are guided by a team of highly experienced individuals specializing in Psychology, Academics, Curriculum Development, Chemical Dependency, Office Administration, Behavior, and Transitional Development.
